Do You Have Enough?

05.01.14 | Finance by Gayle Coughanour

We have heard so often that the reason people do not give more to the church is because they barely make enough money to make ends meet, so how can they give to the church? They think that when they get caught up financially or when they make a certain income, that they will then fully commit to handling their finances God's way.

The truth of the matter is that if we don't commit to Biblical priorities with what we already have, it's unlikely we'll commit when we have more money.

Our heart attitude toward God, and not the amount of money, is the key issue. And until we recognize God as owner of all, we may never reach the point at which we feel that we have "enough." In other words, we will never have contentment.

To reach the point of "enough," we need inner peace and contentment. Getting there begins with transferring ownership of everything to God, including debts and mistakes.

If Jesus forgives our spiritual sins, He certainly will forgive our financial mistakes and help up proceed with the plan He has for our lives. In faith, we need to commit all of our ways and resources to Him.

Get on a budget, set goals, stop accumulating debt, and start paying down existing debt. Learn what God's Word says about stewardship, and be accountable. This will help to give us the inner peace and contentment we long for.

If you don't know where to begin, call Gayle at the church; she will put you in contact with someone who can help, at no cost to you.
