Missions Fair Returns!

01.26.20 | Faces of First Pres

The First Pres Mission Committee is excited to announce the return of our popular and informative Missions Fair on Sunday, March 15. As part of a larger month-long focus on missions, the fair gives our local mission partners an opportunity to sponsor display booths highlighting their organizations’ mission efforts in Palm Beach County, the Treasure Coast, and surrounding communities. This year’s Missions Month carries the theme “From Neighborhoods to Nations, going into all the world,” as suggested by Mark 16:15.

The Missions Fair will be held in Fellowship Hall from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a free breakfast served throughout the morning.

To date, representatives from about 30 partners have been invited to attend. These are groups that FPC supports financially, through prayer, and with other hands-on help. A sampling of local mission partners includes Refuge Ranch, Crossroad and Kairos prison ministries, Hannah’s Home, Urban Youth Impact, Dunklin Memorial Camp, Restoration Destination, Youth for Christ, First Care, and Feeding South Florida, to name a few. All congregants are strongly encouraged to attend the Missions Fair to show support for the charitable work our partners deliver locally. To spark interest, we hope to have mission partners participate in Sunday School classes on the 15th. Additionally, children in youth Sunday School classes will receive “passports” to guide them to the booths and the missionaries, with rewards given to those who completely fill their passport pages. As a reminder to our church members, the Mission Committee exists to guide the congregation in fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ to make disciples of all nations by proclaiming the Gospel of Christ; being witnesses locally, nationally, and internationally; supporting the planting and development of churches; and ministering to the needs of the whole person (spiritual and physical). Our local mission partners specifically care for and alleviate suffering of the marginalized in society, evangelize the lost, and teach or disciple people to help them grow in their faith. Watch for more details on the FPC website and weekly church bulletins as Missions Month approaches. Also, feel free to contact Missions Fair committee members Ken Weda, Bruce Crawford, Nancy Ackles, Idalia Soles, Josh Bartz, Sue Becker, Chuck Platner, Omar Avila, and Rev. Hilliard with any questions or suggestions.

See you at the Missions Fair on Sunday, March 15!
