Where All The Cool Kids Are...

08.13.19 | Faces of First Pres

We are blessed each summer to host three camps for the children of our congregation and community to have a place to gather and draw closer to God, while having a whole lot of fun!  Here is a glimpse of all the fun that was had at First Pres...where all the cool kids are!

Vacation Bible School: It's A Wild Life

This year’s VBS was, once again, a huge success with 250 campers and 157 volunteers. Everyone worked many hours so that children and volunteers could hear the message of how God is always with you no matter what is happening in your life. Our location this year was set in Africa and each day leaders took their campers to 5 different stations. Each station had a “Bible Point” and story and later leaders could take campers deeper into their faith with a question of the day.  We also had special visits from representatives of the Palm Beach Zoo and Busch Wildlife Rescue Center to teach children about specific animals and how we can make our environment better for them. Our mission project focus for the week, for which students collected money, was to help preserve our environment. Thank you to all our great volunteers and station leaders who put their heart and soul into delivering a positive message about God’s amazing love for us as He walks with us in every stage of life and in every situation.

    Music Camp & Conservatory

As they have each year since the early 2000’s, many of Palm Beach County’s most talented musicians convened on the First Pres campus for our Music Camp & Conservatory. Held for our community’s budding musicians, the camp, which served 216 musicians, offered three levels: elementary, intermediate, and conservatory. The staff and volunteers worked with the campers in a variety of concentrations such as concert band, cadet band, orchestra, and strings. The week culminated with a triumphant closing concert. Thank you so much to everyone who made this a possibility! Please make plans to bring your favorite young musicians next year from July 13-17. Registration opens in February 2020.

    Fun Arts Camp

Fun Arts Camp 2019 Fun Arts Camp 2019 was a blessing to all involved with 75 campers and 44 instructors offering 21 classes from which to choose. There was everything from beading and fishing to life skills, visual arts and sports! Ben Corbin delivered the message each morning that helped students and adults alike unpack our weekly Bible verse from Colossians 3:17 - "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus..." The youth staff and volunteers poured out much love and energy and the best reward was in the fact that 10 young campers accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior on Friday morning! In addition, we had a wonderful showcase during lunch on Friday where parents, family, and friends were able to see several exciting visual displays from our electronics, knitting and scrapbooking classes, and also watch several performances by our drama, musical theater, dance, and speed stacking classes.
