Church Planting/Growth

WE, AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST, HAVE BEEN COMMANDED TO "GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL THE NATIONS" (MATTHEW 28:19)

First Presbyterian Church is following that command by supporting  over 50 local, national, and international missionaries and mission agencies. We also send out groups of students and adults to do various short term missions work. Approximately 17% of our annual budget is designated for missions and mission activities.

Our committee’s vision is to see the Gospel spread into the neighborhoods surrounding our church and throughout South Florida.   We believe that seeing new faith communities form and flourish is a natural expression of the Gospel impacting neighborhoods.   Missional Communities comprised of members who gather with friends and neighbors to share fellowship and explore faith are our pathway into the neighborhoods of our city and adjacent areas.     Church Planting is used to support gathered worship for our missional communities when appropriate and for supporting new church start-ups in areas beyond the reach of our church, such as the following churches we have either planted or supported:

Providencia WPB

The Grove Church

Every year, First Pres hosts a Missions Emphasis month which includes pastors and speakers from local and international missions and ministries.  Their visits are a highlight of the year as they share their testimonies and provide a glimpse into all that God is doing in the areas in which they serve. Missions Emphasis Month is a wonderful time to get to know the heart we have for missions and enjoy fellowship with Christian missionaries from all over the world.
