First Presbyterian Church Preschool
Our Mission
In obedience with God's Word, our mission is to educate and nurture the preschool-aged children of our church and our community through loving Christian instruction in a quality learning environment. We seek to provide a preschool experience that will facilitate learning, foster self-esteem and encourage spiritual growth at your child’s own pace.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
Our Preschool Ministry is truly a hidden gem. For over 28 years, our preschool ministry has been a cherished part of the North Palm community. It offers young children a loving and nurturing place to learn and grow. Families are drawn to our weekly enrichments — Chapel, Music and Storytime — which help build both hearts and minds.
Our dedicated staff create joyful, creative environments that encourage exploration and discovery. Recently, our students enjoyed a playful week on the farm! They won’t soon forget the opportunity to “milk” a cow, ride a horse, clean pigs, feed the animals and rake the hay. This hands-on, immersive experience has become a favorite among both students and teachers.
In the spring of 2025, our Preschool dedicated new playground equipment to the memory of a beloved former Preschool mom, Lisa Jost. Lisa’s family and friends joined us for a beautiful afternoon filled with laughter and play as we celebrated her life and the joy she brought to our community. Her legacy of love and kindness continues to shine through the smiles of children enjoying the playground each day.
At the heart of our preschool is a desire to foster an early understanding and love for God and Jesus. Each week, our students attend chapel to hear God’s word and learn about His love. We are especially blessed to see our school families worship together and participate in annual campus events like Parent Chapel Days. Our hope is that every child and every family that walks through our doors feel welcomed, valued and part of our extended church family.
“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.””
Our Curriculum
"Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read or write. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at the pace which is right for each individual child."
A three-pronged Developmental Readiness Program with low staff/student ratios is offered for all age groups.
-
Bible activities and weekly Chapel for all classes encourage children to grow in faith and to develop responsible Christian behaviors. In all classes, our teachers, by example and through curriculum and supportive relationships with the children, encourage them to:
• See themselves as secure children of God
• Respond to God’s love by being concerned for and compassionate to others
• Develop a respect for and desire to protect and care for God’s creations
-
A developmental readiness program based on the Creative Hands-On Curriculum recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, combined with Work Jobs, encourageds the children to develop skills needed for success in Kindergarten.
-
Children develop both large and small muscle coordination through participation in age appropriate activities on the playground and in the classroom.
