O Come, Emmanuel

O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel
— "O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” 19th cent.

O Come, O Come Emmanuel, inspired by an ancient set of prayers in the early centuries of the Church, has today become one of the most globally recognized Christmas songs in the world. Its central cry- “O come!” expresses the deep longing of our lives and our world for God to come to us. Join us this Advent and Christmas at FPC as we explore, in the Gospel of Matthew, how God comes to us in Jesus!
